Digitally enabled and transformed SMEs make rural areas more attractive places to live, work and invest in.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) – as providers of services and goods, as employers, or as clients – contribute to the quality of life in a region. In rural areas especially, SMEs are confronted with a variety of challenges and need to digitalise their business models and internal process to remain competitive in comparison with urban centers. Often, they need support from local and regional actors, such as municipalities, regions or business support organisations, to engage in their digital transformation.
Local and regional authorities need the right tools and competencies for supporting rural enterprises in their digital transformation.
COM³ partners have developed a unique support model that strengthens and empowers local and regional actors in their role as innovation facilitators and enablers.
Nine COM³ pilot regions in all North Sea Region countries opened the way and tested the solutions to tech-enable the local companies in their regions.
