Welcome to the Stronghouse project website. Stronghouse, co-funded by the North Sea Region Programme 2014 - 2020, officially ended on 30th June 2023.

Energy transition

As part of the energy transition, Stronghouse worked on sustainable housing for strong communities. The consortium analysed and redesigned existing measures to motivate and facilitate homeowners – individually and on a neighbourhood level – to invest in energy renovation/retrofitting their homes.

Enabling energy renovation

The Stronghouse vision aimed to engage, enable and empower homeowners and neighbourhoods to invest and reduce the environmental footprint of their homes. Important tools in this regard were the 'Customer Journey' and  'Personas'. The 26 partners from 6 countries supported homeowners on their journey from initial interest to planning, financing and contracting energy renovation. Within the context of the Stronghouse project, focus was on four related support measures:

  1. Instruments and tools that enable individual homeowners to invest in energy efficiency and renewable energies

  2. A neighbourhood-approach to organizing the necessary scale and drivers to invest

  3. Market access for regional SMEs specialized in energy renovation for individual homeowners

  4. Adoption strategies for implementing these instruments, approach and market access

So now it's over, what have we done? In short, a lot! We're really proud to say that the consortium has far surpassed its initial goals. But pictures speak more than a thousand words...
